SLund Gets First WFMT Win at Hamlin
Kenny Lund of Farmingdale, NJ drove his #17 World Formula Modified to his first 2008 win after six straight top three finishes taking the “Pocono Shoot-Out” At Hamlin Speedway this past Saturday night.
Lund, the current point leader for the 2008 campaign, but winless, started third after a fourth place finish in heat race action and took little time in getting his Bark-Built MicroStock to the front by passing the pole sitter, Adam Kievit after one lap was completed. It was all Lund for the rest of the 20 feature laps only being challenged by the #1K of Tommy Kosch throughout the race. After winning heat race number 1 and starting fifth, the master of starts, Kosch had a shot after a mid race caution and was gaining on Lund but ran out of time, taking second place. Following Lund and Kosch were the 46 of Kievit, the 4 of Roberto Gonzales and the #55 of Don Boonstra, to complete the top five..
Micro-Notes: Kudos to rookie Roberto Gonzalez with his third consecutive top 5 of 2008. His finish puts him solidly in third place in the points chase. Adam Kievit moved up two positions in the points standings to seventh and tied George Bark Jr. for the most starts on the World Formula Modified Tour at 20.
